2024 KCSE Results: Kapsabet Boys and Kabarak Dominate in Rift Valley

Kapsabet Boys Tops Rift Valley

Kapsabet Boys High School emerged as the top performer in the Rift Valley region in the 2024 KCSE results, registering 65 straight As and achieving a mean grade of 10.157.

Among the top students, Brian Matoke Otucho and Mark Kibet excelled, each scoring an A of 84 points. The school had 494 candidates in total.

Brian Otucho’s performance was particularly remarkable as he overcame an illness that caused him to miss three academic terms. His mother expressed pride and gratitude for his achievement.

Chief Principal Kipchumba Maiyo highlighted Brian’s brilliance, noting his consistent top ranking in class and the school’s supportive environment during his recovery.

Moi High School Kabarak’s Celebrations

At Moi High School Kabarak, celebrations ensued as students achieved commendable results.

The school’s Chief Principal, Ms. Elsheba Cheruiyot, reported a mean grade of 9.8904, with 34 students earning A plain, 104 A- (minus), and significant numbers in other grades. Although the mean grade dipped from 10.3 in 2023, the school had aimed for 11.1 this year.

Among the top performers, Michele Nyaribari scored an A of 82 points and expressed her desire to pursue medicine at the University of Nairobi.

North Rift Achievers

Several schools in the North Rift region produced top candidates:

  • Moi Girls Eldoret: 24 straight As, led by four students who scored 84 points each.
  • Kapsabet Girls: Soila Chepkemboi scored 83 points, with 27 others earning A- (minus).
  • Baringo High School: Four students achieved an A, 28 scored A- (minus), and others earned B+ and B grades.
  • Kapenguria School: Top performers included Wisely Pyatich with 83 points and two others scoring 82 points.
  • Chewoyet High School: Two students scored A plain, while one earned an A- (minus).

Highlights from Turkana County

Students from Kakuma Refugee Camp also excelled. Gathoth Lul Lok, a South Sudanese student, scored an A- (minus) at AIC Song’ot Boys Secondary School. Principal James Ikai praised his discipline and hard work.

Other Notable Performances

  • Utumishi Boys Academy: Achieved a mean score of 9.15, with eight students scoring A plain and 40 earning A- (minus). Top candidates Keith Mule and Bradley Ikileng tied with 83 points.
  • Anestar Lanet, Nakuru: Two students scored A plain, with 11 others earning A.
  • Langalanga Secondary School: Laura Tinna Ayuma scored 81 points, lifting the school’s profile.
  • Kabianga High School: Improved performance with 21 straight As.
  • Tenwek Boys’ High School: Recorded a mean score of 8.411, with 91.04% university transition rate.
  • St Clare Girls Elburgon: Kathleen Chepkorir Bett emerged top with 81 points.
  • St Theresa’s Wamba Girls: Achieved a 100% university entry rate with a mean score of 8.5.
  • Maralal High School: Five students earned A- (minus), and six scored B+.
  • Kisima Mixed Secondary School: One student scored A plain, with several others attaining high grades.

Aspirations and Reflections

Top students expressed gratitude and outlined their aspirations:

  • Samson Karanja (Anestar Lanet) and Kathleen Chepkorir (St Clare Girls) plan to study medicine.
  • Laura Ayuma (Langalanga) aims to specialize in neurosurgery.

Principals and parents credited these achievements to discipline, teamwork, and dedication. These results highlight the academic excellence and determination prevalent across Rift Valley schools.
