46,000 JSS Tutors, Fertiliser Not Affected by Budget Cuts — Ndindi Nyoro
The employment of junior secondary school teachers and the distribution of fertiliser subsidies will remain unaffected by the recent budget cuts, stated the chairperson of the Budget and Appropriations Committee.
Ndindi Nyoro, also the Kiharu MP, announced that despite the Finance Bill, 2024 not being assented into law, the budget would be adjusted to ensure crucial expenditures are included.
He made this declaration while issuing bursaries for students in secondary schools and tertiary institutions at Kiharu Technical and Vocational College.
Nyoro emphasized that the 46,000 Junior Secondary School teachers currently on internship would be employed on permanent and pensionable terms to ensure fair compensation.

Continued Fertiliser Subsidy
Nyoro highlighted the critical role of agriculture, assuring that subsidised fertiliser would continue to be available for farmers growing both food and cash crops.
He conveyed the committee’s plan to allocate Sh10 billion for subsidised fertiliser as part of the budget adjustments next week.
“I also want to assure all Kenyan farmers that we will include Sh10 billion for subsidised fertiliser as the Budget committee adjusts the budget next week,” the MP said.
Kenyan leaders, responding to public concerns, have decided to work within the available funds by reviewing and reducing the proposed budget by approximately Sh177 billion.
This decision reflects their commitment to prioritising essential services and responding to the needs of the public.
