64-Year-Old MCA Excels in KCSE With D-, Daughter Achieves C.

64-year-old Kipkenyo Ward MCA, David Letting, popularly known as Kokwas, has become a symbol of perseverance after receiving his KCSE results.

Despite never having attended formal classes in primary or secondary school, Kokwas managed to score a D- in the exams. Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, he expressed immense gratitude for the achievement, attributing his success to God.

He revealed that his goal was to simply obtain a certificate, not necessarily a high grade. Kokwas shared that his results were a reflection of his natural knowledge, as he never attended tuition or extra classes.

He stated his appreciation for the certificate, noting that it was something he never thought he could achieve.

Kokwas also celebrated his daughter’s KCSE performance. She achieved a C plain and plans to pursue a career in education. Kokwas expressed his pride, stating that her achievement, coupled with his own, was a blessing from God.

He remarked that his daughter’s aspirations to become a teacher further reinforced his gratitude for their combined successes.

Community Celebration Plans

To mark their accomplishments, Kokwas announced plans to host a celebration on Saturday, January 11. He intends to slaughter a cow and hold a feast with his family and community. This event, he said, will be a way of thanking God and sharing the joy of their achievements with those around him.

In another inspiring story, Derick Otieno, a former street child from Kisumu, defied all odds by scoring an impressive B+ in the 2024 KCSE exams.

His results included an A, two A- grades, a B+, two B- grades, and a C+. According to his guardian, Anne Achieng’, Otieno’s talent in drawing motivated her to ensure he returned to school. She expressed immense pride in his remarkable journey from life on the streets to academic success.

Otieno’s story, like Kokwas’, highlights the power of determination and resilience. Both serve as an inspiration to many Kenyans, proving that it is never too late to achieve one’s goals or overcome challenges.
