7 Students Shift to State Witnesses in Shiners Boys KCSE Candidate’s Killing.
A Naivasha court has converted seven students arrested in Nakuru over the killing of a fellow KCSE candidate at Shiners Boys Secondary School in Gilgil into State witnesses.
Following police investigations, an eighth student will face manslaughter charges. The court has directed the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to conduct an age assessment on the suspect before formally initiating the charges.
The tragic stabbing incident occurred approximately two weeks ago. A group of students allegedly attacked one of their classmates with a knife, resulting in severe injuries.

The victim later succumbed to his injuries at Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital (PGH).
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Initially, the prosecution sought additional time to investigate the circumstances of the student’s death to determine who should face formal charges. During this period, the students were held in police custody while completing their exams.
In an online court session, the prosecution stated that investigations were concluded. Based on the findings, seven students would serve as witnesses, and murder charges against the 17-year-old suspect would be dropped in favor of manslaughter charges.
