Butula High School Rugby Team Prepares for East Africa School Games
Butula High School’s rugby head coach, Shimenga Livondo, expressed confidence that his team is well-prepared to dominate the upcoming East Africa School Games, scheduled to take place in Mbale, Uganda.
Shimenga revealed during an interview with Citizen Digital that the team has been diligently training since April, immediately after the conclusion of the Term One Games.
He emphasized that the continuous training has positioned them as strong contenders for the competition in Mbale.
The coach stated that the team is 90 percent ready for the games, highlighting their commitment by not pausing their training after the national finals.

He believes that the team has reached a level of preparedness required to excel at the East Africa School Games.
Bouncing Back from National Finals
Although Butula High School narrowly lost the national final 12-10 to All Saints of Embu, Shimenga remains optimistic about their chances.
He assured that the team has been refining key areas such as line-outs, rucks, and set pieces, which they have now perfected.
The Kenyan team has been placed in a challenging group alongside defending champions St. Mary’s Kisubi, Makerere, and Kitondo.
Coach Shimenga acknowledged the difficulty of the group, emphasizing the need for perfection in all aspects of the game to progress. He stressed the importance of taking one game at a time and getting every detail right during the matches.

The East Africa School Games are set to begin on August 18 and will conclude on August 27.
“It is a tough pool with very good teams; that is why we have to be perfect in all the departments and take one game at a time. We have to get things right in every moment of the matches we play, as I said a game at a time,” he stated.
