TSC Teachers Recruitment: Selection Score Guide – Post Primary Institution Scoresheet.

During the selection process for teachers in post-primary institutions, applicants should be assessed based on specific areas outlined below. Each section has a maximum score, and applicants should be awarded marks accordingly.

C. Length of Stay Since Qualifying as a Teacher

The length of stay since a teacher qualified is calculated based on the year they met the Commission’s certification requirements. Below is the scoring guide that aligns the year of qualification with the corresponding length of stay in years:

D. Currently Serving as an Intern with the Commission

Teachers currently serving as interns with the Commission are awarded additional points in this category.

  • Internship with the Commission: 50 points

  1. Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Degree:
    • First Class: Maximum Score: 5
    • Second Class: Maximum Score: 3
    • Pass: Maximum Score: 2
  2. Bachelor of Arts (B.A) Degree + PGDE or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) + PGDE:
    • First Class: Maximum Score: 5
    • Second Class: Maximum Score: 3
    • Pass: Maximum Score: 2
  3. Diploma + Diploma in Technical Education:
    • Distinction: Maximum Score: 5
    • Credit: Maximum Score: 3
    • Pass: Maximum Score: 2
  4. Diploma in Education:
    • Distinction: Maximum Score: 5
    • Credit: Maximum Score: 3
    • Pass: Maximum Score: 2

B. Age

Applicants are scored based on their age as follows:

  1. 50 years old and above: Maximum Score: 20
  2. 47 – 49 years old: Maximum Score: 15
  3. 44 – 46 years old: Maximum Score: 10
  4. 43 years old and below: Maximum Score: 5

C. Length of Stay Since Qualifying as a Teacher

The length of stay since a teacher qualified is based on the year they became certified, as per Commission policies. This is crucial for determining the score in this section. The table below shows the length of stay categorized by year:

For scoring purposes, the year a teacher satisfactorily met the qualification requirements will be used to determine the length of stay. This differs from the year on the certificate, which is used in a different part of the scoring.

D. Currently Serving as an Intern with the Commission

In addition to the length of stay, serving as an intern with the Commission is a consideration. Teachers currently serving in this capacity receive additional points.

Maximum Scores
  • Length of Stay: Maximum Score = 50
  • Internship with Commission: Maximum Score = 50
Grand Total: 100

Note: When scoring part C, only the year the teacher was deemed to have satisfactorily qualified under the Commission’s policies will be considered. The certificate is only used to score part A of this sheet.

CHECK LISTS

BOARD OF MANAGEMENT CHECK LIST

The successful applicant will be required to submit the following to the Secretary, Selection
Panel: –

Original and clear copies of the following: –
i. National Identity card (both sides);
ii. NCPWD card (where applicable);
iii. 2 passport size colour photographs;
iv. Certificates and testimonials; KCPE, KCSE, ‘A’ Level, Diploma, Degree etc;
v. Letter of certification of results by KNEC (where applicable);
vi. Official Academic transcripts;
vii. Certificate of Registration as a teacher;
viii. KRA PIN certificate;
ix. Bank Plate/Card (front face);
x. Duly filled pay point particulars’ form;
xi. NHIF Card;
xii. Primary and secondary school leaving certificates and other testimonials;
xiii. Original Medical Examination report in form GP 69;
xiv. Acknowledgement of receipt of recruitment documents.

    TSC CHECK LIST

    The Secretary, Selection Panel is required to submit to the TSC Sub – County Director the
    following:

    1. Minutes of the selection panel duly signed and clearly showing how many applicants were
      shortlisted for interview from the system generated merit list and the selection criteria used;
    2. Completed selection score guide duly signed;
    3. Certified copies of the following: –


    i. National Identity card (both sides);

    ii. NCPWD card (where applicable);

    iii. 2 passport size colour photographs;

    iv. Certificates; KCPE, KCSE, ‘A’ Level, Diploma, Degree etc;

    v. Letter of Certification of results from KNEC (where applicable);

    vi. Official Academic transcripts;

    vii. Certificate of Registration as a teacher;

    viii. KRA PIN certificate;

      ix. Bank plate/Card (front face);

      x. Duly filled pay point particulars form;
