Overview of TSC’s Recruitment Process: Role of Regional Directors.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has outlined a detailed recruitment process for teachers on permanent and pensionable terms for the 2024/2025 financial year.

A key component of this process is the role played by TSC Regional Directors, who are responsible for overseeing the recruitment within their respective regions.

The following is an overview of the recruitment process, focusing on the Regional Directors’ responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities of TSC Regional Directors

Supervision and Coordination

TSC Regional Directors are tasked with ensuring that the recruitment process adheres to established guidelines and procedures.

This includes coordinating the recruitment efforts across the counties within their jurisdiction.

They must also monitor compliance with the Teachers Service Commission Act and the Code of Regulations for Teachers (CORT, 2015), which govern the recruitment process.

Induction of County Directors

Before the recruitment process begins, the Regional Directors are required to induct the TSC County Directors within their regions.

This induction focuses on key areas, including relevant sections of the TSC Act and CORT.

The County Directors are then responsible for inducting members of the selection panels at the sub-county level to ensure they are well-versed in the recruitment guidelines.

Ensuring Accessibility

Regional Directors play a role in ensuring that recruitment venues are accessible to applicants with disabilities.

They are expected to collaborate with the County and Sub-County Directors to ensure that all applicants, including those with disabilities, can participate in the recruitment process without hindrances.

Resolving Complaints

In the event of complaints or disputes during the recruitment process, the Regional Directors are responsible for addressing these concerns.

They must work to resolve complaints raised within their regions and ensure that the recruitment process remains transparent and fair.

If an applicant is dissatisfied with the decision at the county level, they may escalate the matter to the TSC Headquarters Appeals Committee, but the Regional Directors are the first point of contact for resolving local disputes.

Oversight of Merit List Compilation

Regional Directors oversee the submission of merit lists from the county level to the TSC Headquarters.

They ensure that these lists are compiled according to TSC guidelines and that all necessary documents, including verified academic and professional certificates, are in order before submission.

Conclusion

TSC Regional Directors play a critical role in ensuring that the teacher recruitment process is smooth, transparent, and adheres to all legal and procedural requirements.

Their involvement in inducting County Directors, ensuring accessibility, resolving complaints, and overseeing the merit list compilation underscores their importance in the overall success of the recruitment exercise.
