CS Ogamba Calls for Audit of School Land Titles, Puts Public Land Grabbers on Notice.
During the commissioning of 12 classrooms for Junior Secondary Schools at Kakamega Primary School, Dr. Ogamba instructed all Regional Directors of Education (RDEs) and County Directors of Education (CDEs) to collaborate with the Ministry of Lands to conduct a thorough audit of land belonging to educational institutions.
He emphasized the need to secure title deeds for these lands, stressing that this would ensure the land is safeguarded from encroachment.
“I direct all directors of education to undertake an audit of all land belonging to Education institutions and ensure the land is protected, as well as get land title deeds for the same,” he said.

Dr. Ogamba highlighted that private developers have increasingly targeted school land, especially in Mombasa and Nairobi counties.
He assured the public that the government is committed to reclaiming any grabbed land and warned those involved in land grabbing to desist immediately, asserting that legal measures would be enforced.
“I want to put on notice those thinking land belonging to institutions is available for grabbing. Start exiting because we will ensure government machinery takes back this land,” he warned.
The CS also noted that the government is actively working to ensure a seamless transition for pupils advancing to Grade Nine.

He revealed that the plan to build 16,000 classrooms for this grade is progressing, with resources decentralized to local contractors.
This approach aligns with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), aiming to stimulate local economies through construction projects.
