According to Ms. Nancy Macharia, the TSC CEO, these efforts reflect the commission’s commitment to addressing the deficit in teaching staff across the country.
Teacher Registration Data
By May 2024, TSC had registered a total of 714,234 teachers. This group is divided as follows:
Category | Number of Teachers |
---|---|
Permanently Employed | Over 360,000 |
Unemployed | 354,234 |
Despite the high number of registered teachers, a significant shortage persists, particularly in junior secondary schools, which were introduced two years ago.
