KNEC to Administer KPLEA Exams to 5,360 Candidates with Special needs.
KNEC CEO David Njeng’ere has outlined the upcoming assessments, including the third cohort of the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system and the Kenya Junior Secondary Education Assessment.
The KNEC plans to administer the Kenya Pre-vocational Level Education Assessment (KPLEA) for an estimated 5,360 candidates with special needs.
A pilot for the Kenya Junior Secondary Education Assessment was conducted in 235 schools across all 47 counties in July 2024.
The findings from the pilot informed the development of an assessment blueprint. Sample papers for this new assessment have been uploaded on the KNEC portal, and Dr. Njengere reminded the public that these materials are free to access.
Lastly, Dr. Njengere informed the public that the KCSE examination will conclude in 2027. He encouraged anyone interested in re-taking the exams, whether partially or fully, to make use of the remaining opportunities.

2025 KCSE Exams
A team of 125,000 professionals from various government and educational bodies was involved in the administration of the exams. This included officials from the Ministry of Education, the Teacher Service Commission, and security personnel, among others.
Dr. Njengere thanked them for their dedication, especially in challenging circumstances, including periods of unrest. After the exams, 30,370 examiners worked in 40 marking centers across the country, demonstrating their professionalism and commitment to the process.
