Fire Breaks Out at Cardinal Otunga Mosocho High School After KCSE Results Release.
A mysterious fire engulfed a dormitory at Cardinal Otunga Mosocho High School in Kisii shortly after the release of the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results.
An insider, who spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons, disclosed that the fire erupted in one of the dormitories as the school staff, led by the principal, were busy downloading the results from the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) portal.
The source recounted how smoke was spotted, prompting everyone to rush toward the affected area.
Emergency Response
Firefighters from the Kisii County government arrived promptly to contain the situation. Senior Principal Ezekiel Okey, when contacted, stated that the matter had already been reported to the police but refrained from giving further details. He confirmed that there were no casualties resulting from the incident.

Attempts to reach Kisii County Director for Education, Philip Chirchir, for comments were unsuccessful. Meanwhile, concerned parents urged the police to expedite investigations and ensure that anyone involved in the incident is held accountable.
