Bahari Girls High Produces First Female KCSE ‘A’ in Kilifi County.
Bahari Girls High School in Kilifi County has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the first secondary school in the region to produce a female student with a mean grade of ‘A’ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.
Grace Sidi Karisa, a student at Bahari Girls High School near Kilifi town, made history by scoring a mean grade of A in the recently released KCSE results.
This marked the first time a girl studying within the county attained such a grade. The achievement sparked celebrations at her home in Matsangoni, Kilifi North subcounty.
Parents, neighbors, and fellow students carried her shoulder-high, expressing pride in her exceptional performance.
Her parents and school principal, Silvano Hamaro, shared their joy, emphasizing the magnitude of her success despite her modest background. They highlighted her hard work and resilience as key factors in her achievement.
Speaking at her parents’ home, Grace shared her ambition to pursue a career in medicine and become a doctor. Her determination to excel and contribute to society through healthcare has inspired many in her community.
Istqama Academy’s Outstanding Performance
In Malindi subcounty, Istqama Academy also celebrated impressive KCSE results. Teachers and students at the school broke into song and dance after achieving a mean score of ‘B-’ (B-minus), making it the best-performing school in the subcounty.
The school principal, Maalim Goso Mohamed, reported that three students scored a mean grade of B+, showcasing the school’s commitment to nurturing talent despite financial challenges.
Of the 47 candidates who sat for the examinations, 37 achieved a mean grade of C+ or higher, securing direct university admission. This represented 79% of the candidates.
Mohamed attributed the success to the school’s scholarship program, which supports vulnerable students by allowing them to pay half the required fees. This initiative reduces financial strain on families, enabling students to focus on their studies.
