International Day of Education: CS Ogamba Directs Parents to Register Children Under Taifa Care Initiative.
The Education Cabinet Secretary, Julius Migos Ogamba, led the country in marking the International Day of Education in Taita Taveta County. He celebrated the significant achievement of constructing over 14,500 classrooms across the country.
At the event, the CS inaugurated eight newly constructed Junior School classrooms at Mghambonyi Comprehensive School and a tuition block at Mbauro Comprehensive School, both located in Wundanyi Sub-County, Taita Taveta County.
Earlier, he had also commissioned new Junior School classrooms at Mwanyambo Comprehensive School in Voi. He was joined by Wundanyi MP Danson Mwashako Mwakuwona and Voi MP Khamis Chome Abdiwas during the ceremonies.
Ogamba urged students to embrace the new July examination series, describing it as a transformative addition to the education calendar. He explained that the series provides an opportunity for candidates to enhance their academic qualifications while addressing challenges in learner progression.
He also appealed to parents to register with the Taifa Care Programme and include their school-going children as dependents to benefit from its services.
“I also urge parents to register under the Taifa Care Programme and enlist your school going children as dependents” said the CS.

In line with the International Day of Education’s 2025 theme, “AI and Education: Preserving Human Agency in a World of Automation,” Ogamba encouraged learners to adopt technology to improve their learning experience.
However, he warned against the misuse of technology, emphasizing that while it is a powerful enabler for success, it should not lead to criminal activities.
The Cabinet Secretary assured education stakeholders that funds allocated for capitation would be promptly disbursed within three days once released by the exchequer.
He acknowledged the delays caused by prevailing economic challenges but expressed hope for smoother funding processes in the coming terms.
