KNEC Calls for Fresh Registration of Grade 6 Candidates on KPSEA Portal.
The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) Chairperson, David Njengere, has called on all headteachers to ensure the fresh registration of Grade 6 candidates through the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) portal.
Njengere stated on Friday that the registration process for the November KPSEA examinations had already begun, with February 28 set as the deadline.
To register candidates, schools must access the KNEC Competency Based Assessment (CBA) portal using their assessment centre login credentials, including usernames and passwords.
This portal, designed exclusively for Grade 6 learner registration, features an audit trail to monitor user actions for accountability and data integrity.
Correction of Learner Details
Njengere emphasized that school administrators wishing to amend learner details must do so within the allocated timeframe. He noted that such corrections are allowed during registration but only when necessary.
School heads were reminded to ensure the accuracy of submitted data, particularly the spelling of candidates’ names as per their birth certificates.
Additionally, headteachers are required to include other essential details, such as gender, year of birth, citizenship, religious education preferences, and disability status.
For learners with disabilities, the correct category—such as blind, low vision, deaf, or physical disabilities—must be specified, while the “None” option should be selected for those without disabilities.
Confirmation and Deletion of Details
Upon successfully saving a learner’s details, the portal will display a confirmation message indicating that the information has been amended.
In cases where a candidate’s name needs to be removed, headteachers should use the “remove” option. The system will then display a notification confirming the removal of the learner from KPSEA registration.

Avoiding Malpractices
Njengere cautioned school heads against registering ineligible candidates for the November examinations, warning that such actions constitute assessment malpractice. He highlighted that presenting ghost candidates could lead to severe repercussions, including the deregistration of the school as a KNEC assessment centre.
By urging strict adherence to the guidelines, Njengere underscored the importance of maintaining integrity and accuracy throughout the registration process. Schools are expected to fully comply to ensure a seamless examination period for all Grade 6 learners.
