KNEC Directs 2024 KCSE Candidates to Collect Result Slips.
The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has instructed all candidates who sat for the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations to retrieve their result slips from their respective schools.
Through a notice issued on Wednesday morning, the examination council announced that the result slips had been sent to all Sub-County Directors of Education (SCDE) offices nationwide.
Schools that facilitated candidates for the national examinations were advised to collect the documents from their designated SCDE offices for distribution to students.
KNEC emphasized that the 2024 KCSE Examination Result Slips had been dispatched to all SCDE offices across the country, advising school administrators to coordinate with their respective SCDEs for collection.
These result slips play a crucial role in the university and college admission process, as they are required during enrollment at institutions placed by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).
The slips serve as provisional records for candidates while awaiting their official KNEC examination certificates, which are generally issued about eight months after the release of results.
KCSE 2024 Performance Overview
A total of 962,512 candidates sat for the 2024 KCSE exams. Of these, 246,391 attained the minimum university entry grade of C+, marking an improvement compared to the previous year’s 201,133 candidates who secured direct university admission.
During the announcement of the KCSE results at Mtihani House in Nairobi on January 9, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba reported that 1,693 candidates had achieved Grade A (plain). Meanwhile, the number of candidates who obtained Grades C- and D+ stood at 476,889 and 605,774, respectively.
Additionally, Ogamba disclosed that investigations confirmed exam irregularities among 840 candidates, leading to the cancellation of their results. Similarly, KNEC withheld the results of 2,829 candidates, pending further review and verification.

This latest directive from KNEC coincides with the ongoing registration of candidates for the 2024 KCSE and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) examinations, scheduled for November.
The registration process, which commenced on January 27, is set to conclude on February 28. KNEC has urged school heads to ensure all candidates are accurately registered within the stipulated timeline to facilitate a smooth examination process later in the year.
