JSS Teachers and KUPPET to Celebrate Valentine’s in a Special Way.

With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, many are preparing to express their love despite economic hardships. This year, the education sector is embracing the occasion in an exceptional way, prioritizing a unique initiative over traditional celebrations.

Under the strong and focused leadership of Captain Paul Rotich, the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Nandi branch and Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers—who have transitioned from being ‘moguls’ to ‘maestros’—are preparing for a meaningful celebration. Instead of conventional festivities, they will be extending their love to learners with disabilities at Kapsabet School for the Deaf.

The union has urged its members to participate in the event by contributing essential supplies such as foodstuffs, stationery, toiletries, and printing papers.

They have also been encouraged to be physically present on February 14 to provide moral support and encouragement to the students. The initiative aims to bring smiles to these learners and reinforce a sense of community and inclusion.

For JSS teachers in the county, this Valentine’s Day marks a moment of gratitude as they celebrate their confirmation to permanent employment status by the commission. The occasion provides them an opportunity to appreciate this milestone and reflect on their professional journey.

Call for Reforms in JSS Administration

Captain Rotich reiterated the necessity of establishing distinct administrative and management structures for JSS.

He emphasized that such measures would help address the ongoing conflicts between teachers and their supervisors while also ensuring career growth and preventing stagnation among educators.
