TSC Begins Teacher Document Verification, Awards 50 Marks to Interns in Recruitment Exercise.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has commenced the verification of documents to fill 8,707 vacancies left by teachers who exited the service through natural attrition.
The verification process is taking place across various sub-counties, with at least thirty initiating the exercise today, while others are set to begin tomorrow and Wednesday.
TSC Sub-County Directors have dispatched notifications to applicants, inviting them to participate in the verification process. These invitations were sent out last week following the conclusion of promotion interviews for primary and post-primary school teachers.
Applicants received messages detailing the required documents for verification. A sample message from TSC’s Tharaka Nithi Sub-County Director instructed a teacher to report on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 8:30 AM with original and photocopies of identification documents, TSC registration certificate, academic certificates from KCPE to degree level, leaving certificates, official transcripts, and graduation records.
Additionally, teachers with name discrepancies were required to provide an affidavit.
Merit lists of teacher applicants have been made available, and those whose names appear on the list but did not receive an invitation message are encouraged to attend the verification exercise.
Internship Marks and Recruitment Guidelines
As per the 2024-2025 recruitment guidelines for permanent positions, TSC has assigned fifty marks to teachers who have previously served under internship terms.
Unlike the previous year, when interns were restricted from applying for permanent and pensionable (PnP) positions, this year, they are eligible and have been given significant consideration.
Additionally, TSC has awarded five marks to teachers holding PTE certificates who upgraded to the Upgrade Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (UDPTE).
The recruitment exercise covers 5,862 primary school positions, 21 junior school positions, and 2,824 secondary school positions. Posting of successful candidates is scheduled to commence at the end of this month and will continue until May 2025.

However, serving intern teachers are only required to present their national identification cards for verification. Persons with disabilities must indicate their status and the nature of their disabilities to aid in their placement.
Merit List Compilation and Public Access
Upon completion of the verification process, the TSC Sub-County Director will compile a Merit List of all verified applicants.
The lists will be accessible to the public upon request in a manner that does not interfere with the recruitment process, ensuring full compliance with the Data Protection Act, 2019.
