Nursing Among the Top Four Most Preferred Courses – KUCCPS CEO
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) Chief Executive Officer, Agnes Wahome, has identified four university courses that attract the highest number of applicants.
She highlighted nursing, clinical medicine, teaching, and law as the most preferred choices among students who qualify for university admission.
While addressing participants at the 2nd Biennial Kenya Universities Funding Conference on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, Wahome stated that students who attained a mean grade of C+ and above commonly opted for these four disciplines.
She noted a significant interest in nursing, clinical medicine, and teaching among students with university placement qualifications. Additionally, she observed a high demand for a diploma in law, citing a recent advertisement that saw many students with a C+ and above selecting the course.
Despite the popularity of these four courses, Wahome pointed out that over the past two years, an increasing number of students have shown a preference for diploma and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes.
She also highlighted a gender-based trend in course selection, indicating that male students predominantly chose science-related courses, whereas female students gravitated towards law and various arts programmes.
KUCCPS Application Portal Reopened
This update follows KUCCPS’s recent decision to reopen its application portal for students applying to Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and TVET institutions. Initially closed on February 14, the portal was reopened on February 26 to accommodate students who had not secured placements.

Additionally, KUCCPS invited both unsuccessful candidates from the previous application round and new applicants interested in joining KMTC in March to apply through the online portal accessible at students.kuccps.net.
