Prof. Joseph Kiplangat Takes Over as Vice Chancellor at Kenya Highlands University.
Kenya Highlands University has appointed Prof. Joseph Kiplangat as its new Vice Chancellor. The installation ceremony was presided over by the Ag. Chancellor, Dr. Daniel Ngeno, who described Prof. Kiplangat as a transformational and visionary leader, deeply rooted in both academic and administrative fields.
Dr. Ngeno highlighted Prof. Kiplangat’s extensive leadership background, noting that he had previously served as Acting Vice Chancellor at Africa International University and worked with the Ministry of Agriculture’s National Seed Quality Control Service.
With over 40 years of experience in public and private sectors, Prof. Kiplangat was seen as well-suited to lead the university forward, with his leadership aligning seamlessly with the institution’s mission of offering high-quality, Christian-centered education.
The Ag. Chancellor expressed pride in the university’s reputation for producing students of high moral character and academic excellence. He pointed out that the institution consistently nurtured learners who were guided by strong values, dedicated to education, and equipped to serve their communities.
In tandem with the leadership transition, Kenya Highlands University has embarked on constructing a chapel that will accommodate 2,400 people at an estimated cost of Sh 25 million. This development marks a significant investment in spiritual growth and community engagement.
The chapel is projected to become a major spiritual facility in the South Rift region, serving not only the university’s students and staff but also attracting Christian organizations and fellowships nationwide.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, the University Chancellor and Presiding Bishop of the Africa Gospel Church, Rev. Dr. Robert Langat, emphasized the chapel’s importance in promoting the university’s holistic mission. He stated that the modern chapel would enhance spiritual life on campus, offering a dedicated space for worship, contemplation, and outreach activities.
Kenya Highlands University, a fully chartered institution under the sponsorship of the Africa Gospel Church, provides a broad range of academic programs designed to meet industry needs. The university maintains a strong commitment to timely degree completion while integrating Christian values throughout its educational approach.
