TSC Recruitment Timelines and Submission Deadlines Explained.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) recruitment process is a structured and time-sensitive exercise designed to ensure transparency, fairness, and efficiency. Each step in the hiring cycle follows a strict schedule—from application submission to merit list compilation and final appointment. This article outlines the key timelines and submission deadlines in the 2024/2025 recruitment of teachers.

1. Application Submission Window

The process begins with an official advertisement from the TSC inviting qualified candidates to apply for vacancies on Permanent and Pensionable terms. Applicants must:

  • Apply online through www.teachersonline.go.ke
  • Submit applications specifically for counties or sub-counties where vacancies have been declared.
  • Complete this process within the stipulated window, often between two to three weeks from the date of the advert.

Note: Late applications are not considered under any circumstance.

2. Shortlisting and Communication of Interview Dates

After the application period closes:

  • TSC County Directors generate lists of applicants and share them with Sub-County Directors.
  • Sub-County Directors convene Selection Panels and identify venues, dates, and times for interviews.
  • Applicants are informed at least 7 days before the document verification exercise via SMS.

3. Verification and Document Submission

During the verification stage, applicants must appear in person and present original and photocopied documents. These include ID, teacher registration certificate, PTE/DPTE certificate, KCPE and KCSE certificates, and any affidavits for name discrepancies.

Submission Deadline: All documents must be verified and submitted to the Sub-County Director before the Merit List compilation.

Once completed:

  • Sub-County Directors compile and submit the Sub-County Merit Lists to County Directors.
  • County Directors then prepare a County Merit List for onward submission to TSC Headquarters.

4. Deadline for Submissions to TSC Headquarters

The TSC County Director must submit the following to the Headquarters within the official deadline:

  • Signed minutes of selection panels.
  • County Merit Lists.
  • Selected applicants’ documents.
  • Reports on any complaints and actions taken.

Missing this deadline could lead to delays in appointment letters or disqualification of candidates.

5. Handling of Complaints and Appeals

Applicants who feel aggrieved by the outcome of the selection process must:

  • Submit a written complaint to the County Director and email the TSC Headquarters within 7 days of the selection process.
  • If unsatisfied with the County’s decision, escalate the matter to the TSC Appeals Committee, which will respond within 14 days.

6. Issuance of Appointment Letters

After verification and approval at the Headquarters:

  • Successful candidates receive formal Offer of Employment Letters.
  • They are then placed on the payroll, following submission of KRA PIN, bank account details, and medical clearance (Form GP 69).

The TSC recruitment calendar is governed by clear and rigid timelines. Meeting deadlines at every stage—from application to complaints handling—is critical to a successful outcome. Teachers looking to join the public service on Permanent and Pensionable terms must remain alert to communications from TSC officials and ensure timely submission of all required documents.
