KUCCPS Announces Transfer Portal Closing Date for First-Year Students
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced the closure of the portal for inter-institution transfer at midnight on Thursday, July 4.
The placement body encouraged first-year students under government sponsorship to utilize this opportunity to transfer to their preferred university or institution.
This includes students in public universities, colleges, polytechnics, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.
Application Process
First-year students were advised to apply for the transfer through the KUCCPS portal at students.kuccps.net if they were recently placed in a university or TVET institution and wished to transfer.
KUCCPS explained that this transfer window was opened to ensure all students could study their desired courses at their preferred institutions.
For a transfer request to be successful, both the releasing and receiving institutions must endorse the request.
For example, if a student is transferring from Kenyatta University to the University of Nairobi, the transfer cannot be processed if either institution declines approval.
Additionally, KUCCPS will not approve transfer requests if students do not meet the required cluster points for their desired courses.
The portal indicates the cluster points for each student, the required cluster points for respective courses, and subject requirements.
KMTC Application Status
KUCCPS also announced that students who had applied for Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) courses could check their application status on the portal.
The placement body invited those who applied for the intake but had not secured a course to choose other KMTC courses via the portal.

The deadline for KMTC’s second revision was set for July 12, strictly for those not placed during the first phase.
