Call for TSC to Recruit More Teachers in Kiambu County to Address Overcrowding.
The Ministry of Education is facing pressure to increase teacher allocations in Kiambu County, where overcrowded classrooms have become a critical issue.
Juja MP Hon. George Koimburi raised concerns about the strain on existing teaching staff due to a surge in student numbers, with some classrooms accommodating over 80 students.
The MP appealed to the government and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to recruit more teachers in 2025 to help improve learning conditions and ease the workload on current teachers.

Highlighting the impact of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), Koimburi emphasized the importance of adequate staffing to ensure students receive the personalized attention needed to fulfill the curriculum’s experiential learning approach.
He mentioned that with new resources, such as a recently acquired school bus, students would have more opportunities to explore and learn beyond the classroom, aligning with CBC goals for hands-on learning and discovery.
