CBC Pathways in Senior School (Grade 10, 11, and 12) Starting January 2026.

The Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) introduces structured pathways for students transitioning into senior school, commencing January 2026.

These pathways will cater to diverse talents and interests, equipping learners with specialized skills to thrive in their chosen fields. This phase is designed for students in Grades 10, 11, and 12, forming a critical stage in their educational journey.

TSC Urge School Heads to Adopt Triple Pathway Model

All senior school students, regardless of their chosen pathway, will engage in five mandatory learning areas. These include English, Kiswahili or Sign Language, ICT Skills, Physical Education, and Community Service Learning.

These core areas are essential in fostering well-rounded individuals capable of addressing contemporary societal challenges.

Pathways in Senior School

Senior school offers three distinct pathways tailored to align with students’ aspirations and aptitudes. These pathways are:

  1. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
  2. Arts and Sports Science
  3. Social Sciences

Each pathway comprises a variety of learning areas, enabling students to delve into specific disciplines.

Learning Areas in Each Pathway

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)

The STEM pathway is designed for students passionate about scientific and technological pursuits. Subjects in this pathway include:

  • Mathematics
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • General Science
  • Computer
  • Agriculture
  • Home Science
  • Drawing and Design
  • Aviation Technology
  • Building and Construction
  • Electrical Technology
  • Metal Technology
  • Power Mechanics
  • Wood Technology
  • Media Technology
  • Marine and Fisheries Technology

Arts and Sports Science

For learners inclined towards creativity and physical activities, the Arts and Sports Science pathway offers subjects such as:

  • Sports and Recreation
  • Physical Education
  • Music and Dance
  • Theatre and Film
  • Fine Arts

Social Sciences

The Social Sciences pathway provides a broad spectrum of subjects for students interested in languages, humanities, and business. These include:

  • Advanced English
