CS Machogu Recruiting East African Neighbors for Regional Drama Festival
Machogu praised Kenya’s drama and film festivals for raising quality over the years and stated that his ministry is working with other sectors to expand Kenya’s creative arts industry worldwide.
“We are combining efforts to further grow this reality that we have today so that these young people, with the talents they have, can even go to the international level,” he went on to say.
Machogu hinted that they are recruiting neighbors in East Africa to establish drama festivals in their nations and to expand it to a regional activity in the future.
“The only country we have been competing with is Uganda; we have encouraged Tanzania, Rwanda, and other countries to join and make it a regional affair,” Machogu said in a statement.
He stated that the content would be digitized so that it could be used as a learning tool while also allowing the learner to earn money from it.
Jacinta Mulwa, Head of KRA Tax Education, stated that the engagement with drama and film festivals would let students understand taxes at a young age.
Charles Odhiambo, the chairman of the Kenya National Drama and Film Festivals, said that increased participation and new categories improved this year’s festivals.
