CS Ogamba: 1.3 Million Learners Ready for KPSEA Exams.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has announced that a total of 1,313,913 learners will sit for the KPSEA Grade 6 exams. He assured the public that the government has put in place sufficient strategies to ensure the smooth conduct of both the KPSEA and KCSE examinations.

While addressing attendees at Kunste Hotel in Nakuru City during the World Teachers Day celebration, Ogamba emphasized that the government would not tolerate any form of malpractice.

He encouraged candidates to give their best effort based on their preparation. He also urged parents to recognize their significant role during the examination period, reminding them not to wait until after results are out to blame school heads for poor performance.

Instead, he advised parents to create a peaceful environment and offer support to their children, especially those attending day schools, to help them achieve good results.

“Parents should also be aware they have a key role to play during this examination period; they should not forget their role and wait to harass school heads when their children get poor results,” said the CS.

Accountability and Legal Consequences

Ogamba warned that any Centre Manager found guilty of engaging in malpractice, whether in public or private schools, would face strict legal consequences. He underscored the importance of integrity in the examination process.

He also encouraged teachers involved in the examination process to collaborate fully with security officers and officials from the Ministry of Education.

This cooperation, he noted, is key to ensuring that the KCSE and KPSEA exams proceed smoothly across all schools.

The CS was joined by key education stakeholders, including KNUT Secretary General Collins Oyuu, officials from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA), the Kenya Primary School Heads Association (KEPSHA), and the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET).
