CS Ogamba Appeals to TSC for Teacher Respect and Support.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba urged government agencies, especially the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), to ensure that teachers are treated with respect and motivated to perform their duties effectively.
Ogamba stressed that teachers’ voices should be heard and their concerns addressed in line with the law to improve their working conditions.
During a speech in Nakuru County on World Teachers’ Day, the CS reaffirmed the government’s commitment to recruiting more teachers to tackle the current shortage, which has contributed to poor performance in some schools.
He emphasized that increasing the workforce would improve the quality of education across the country.

The CS acknowledged the significant role teachers play in shaping learners into valuable members of society and encouraged appreciation for their tireless efforts.

He highlighted the importance of collaboration within the education sector to ensure children receive quality education, which he noted as essential for sustainable development.
“All government agencies in the Ministry of Education like TSC should treat teachers with respect, listen to their voices and address their problems in accordance with the laws to enable teachers work well,” he said.
At the same event, Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Collins Oyuu expressed the union’s support for any government policies aimed at improving the quality of education.
He reiterated that the union would back directives aligned with this goal.

Calvin Anyuor, the Director of Legal Affairs at TSC, who represented the CEO Nancy Macharia, reinforced that the commission would continue fulfilling its responsibilities in accordance with the law.
He emphasized that TSC’s primary focus is ensuring that Kenyan children receive quality education.
