CS Ogamba Migos Cancels KCSE Results for 840 Candidates Due to Irregularities.

In a move to enhance the credibility of the examination process, the government implemented the personalizing and anonymizing of examination question papers for the first time.

A total of 840 candidates were found to be involved in examination irregularities in the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, and their results have been canceled.

The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) is legally authorized under the Kenya National Examination Council (Handling of Examination Irregularities) Rules of 2015 to act on such matters.

According to Rule 8 of Legal Notice Number 132 of 2015, the KNEC has the authority to withhold the results of any candidate or examination center suspected of involvement in examination malpractices while investigations are ongoing.

Ongoing Investigations and Withholding of Results

In total, 2,829 candidates’ results have been withheld pending the completion of investigations into potential involvement in irregularities. The investigations must be concluded within 30 days from the official release of the results, which occurred today.

It was noted that despite efforts to combat malpractices, some contracted professionals and teachers remain determined to sabotage the future of students by facilitating cheating during the exams.
