Disco Matanga Banned in Siaya County for Exposing School Children to Immorality.
Night vigils, commonly referred to as ‘Disco Matanga,’ alongside unnecessary parties, will remain prohibited in Siaya County during the 2024 festive season.
Siaya County Commissioner Norbert Komora has highlighted these gatherings as hotspots for criminal activities and avenues where school-aged children are often enticed into immoral behavior.
He instructed chiefs to remain vigilant in December and emphasized that anyone found violating the ban would face arrest.
“Disco Matanga and other parties are affecting us. Chiefs should be keen this December, those found culpable should be arrested,” he said.

Security personnel across the county have been directed to remain alert and enforce the directive strictly to curb these unlawful activities.
Komora urged parents and guardians to take full responsibility for their children during the holiday period, stating that this duty should not be left solely to chiefs and law enforcement.
He stressed the importance of parental vigilance in ensuring that children stay on the right path.
