DP Kindiki Tells KMTC Graduates to Embrace Global Opportunities
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has urged this year’s Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) graduating class to consider working abroad as they step into the job market.
Addressing the 93rd KMTC graduation ceremony held on Thursday at the Moi International Sports Complex in Nairobi, he emphasized the importance of seizing international opportunities.
Rigorous Training and Market Readiness
Kindiki highlighted the rigorous nature of KMTC training, which prioritizes practical and clinical work over theoretical learning. He noted that this balanced approach ensures graduates are not only market-ready but also competent, making them highly sought after both locally and internationally.

The deputy president reaffirmed the government’s commitment to facilitating international labour mobility to support graduates interested in exploring overseas employment.
Global Competitiveness through Specialized Programs
The Deputy President acknowledged KMTC’s significant role in preparing graduates for both local and international job markets.
He cited specialized programs such as the National Council Licensure Examination Training for international opportunities, basic foreign language courses, and pre-departure training as crucial in ensuring graduates remain globally competitive.
He encouraged the graduates to embrace these opportunities, likening their potential global impact to that of Kenya’s renowned athletes.
“This balanced approach ensures that you are not only market-ready but also competent, making you highly valued both locally and internationally,” he said.
Job Creation Initiatives for Youth
Kindiki reiterated the government’s dedication to creating employment opportunities for the youth.
He praised KMTC for equipping its students with essential skills, enabling them to transition seamlessly into professional roles.
He urged the graduates to become global ambassadors for Kenya, achieving excellence in their respective fields.
During the ceremony, it was revealed that 21,261 students graduated from KMTC.
Kindiki also mentioned Kenya’s memorandum of understanding with the United Kingdom, which aims to deploy 20,000 nurses to the UK by 2025.
