Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers in Elgeyo Marakwet are set for better pay as the county implements the second phase of salary increases. This initiative aligns with the county’s dedication to enhancing the welfare of tutors and boosting their morale.
Governor Wisely Rotich emphasized the crucial role ECDE teachers play in building a strong foundation for education. He stated that a motivated teaching workforce is essential for ensuring quality education.
The governor confirmed that the second phase of the salary increment would be rolled out this month alongside ongoing efforts to improve learning infrastructure.
Speaking at the launch of a digital learning training program in Iten, Governor Rotich expressed his satisfaction with the progress made in introducing digital learning across ECDE centers. He acknowledged the teachers’ dedication and hard work in providing quality education for children in the county.

The governor highlighted the importance of digital learning, noting its role in preparing learners to compete on a global scale. He explained that the county aims to make education more engaging by integrating digital tools to enhance knowledge delivery.

Governor Rotich, who chairs the ICT Committee at the Council of Governors, announced that the remaining 247 schools in the county would implement the program by July 2025.

The training program was sponsored by the global EIDU digital learning initiative. Regional Manager Lilian Omondi reaffirmed EIDU’s commitment to advancing digital learning. She stated that the organization partners with governments to provide affordable and scalable digital solutions to improve learning institutions.
This initiative marks a significant step toward improving education outcomes by ensuring ECDE teachers are well-equipped to deliver quality education in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
