Education CS Alarmed by the Rising Number of Pregnant KCSE Candidates.
Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Julius Ogamba expressed concern over the alarming number of pregnancies among KCSE candidates this year.
He made these remarks during a mentorship programme at Gesieka Market, which was organized by Kisii Woman Representative Dorice Donya Toto. The event was attended by over 20 MPs.
Ogamba emphasized the need for all stakeholders to take responsibility in safeguarding children.

He condemned the increasing cases of early pregnancies among school-going children and called for stronger efforts in community sensitization on issues like sexual and gender-based violence.
In his address, Ogamba urged parents and guardians to stay vigilant during the holiday season.
He advised them against allowing children to attend disco matangas, stressing that holidays often present numerous challenges. Protecting children from harmful influences during this time is crucial, he added.

On a more positive note, Ogamba acknowledged the absence of widespread exam malpractice this year, which he described as a commendable development.
The CS also announced that he would release a comprehensive statement on Friday regarding the conclusion of the national examinations, providing further insights into this year’s process.
