Education CS Julius Ogamba Denies Resignation Claims.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has refuted widespread rumors suggesting that he has stepped down from his position in the government.
The allegations, which originated from a viral social media post, claim that Ogamba resigned due to dissatisfaction with the government’s response to rising cases of abductions.
The Alleged Resignation Post
The social media post alleged that Ogamba had tendered his resignation to President William Ruto, citing irreconcilable differences with the administration’s leadership style.
According to the post, Ogamba criticized the government for failing to uphold basic rights and dignity while decrying issues such as abductions, disappearances, and killings, which have reportedly left many families living in fear and anguish.
The post falsely attributed the following statement to Ogamba:
“With a heavy heart but a clear conscience, I announce my resignation as the Cabinet Secretary for Education. This decision stems from my commitment to justice, equality, and the protection of human rights—values that this government no longer upholds.”
It also claimed that Ogamba emphasized his responsibility as a leader to advocate for constitutional principles, adding that he could not continue to serve under an administration that disregarded these values.
Ogamba’s Clarification
In response to the allegations on Monday, January 13, Ogamba dismissed the claims as baseless and misleading.
He labeled the viral post as fake and advised Kenyans to be vigilant against counterfeit social media accounts impersonating him. He clarified through his verified account that no such resignation had occurred.
“Beware of a fake X account purporting to be the Cabinet Secretary for Education,” urging the public to verify information before sharing, Ogamba stated.
Resignation of Government Delivery Services Head
Interestingly, Ogamba’s clarification came shortly after another high-profile resignation in the government. Peter Mbae, the Head of Government Delivery Services, officially stepped down, citing unresolved issues that had hampered his office’s effectiveness.
In his resignation letter dated January 9, Mbae addressed Felix Koskei, the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, stating that persistent issues had made his position untenable.

Mbae’s Statement on Resignation
Mbae detailed his reasons, stating, “Despite my passion, focus, and consistency, unresolved matters brought to your attention have hindered my ability to perform my duties effectively. Therefore, I request to formally disengage and pursue other interests.”
When contacted, Mbae reiterated his commitment to professional growth, saying he would return to his previous endeavors.
“I was professional in my own right before joining government, so I will go back to what I was doing,” he remarked.
