Education stakeholders Call for Restructuring of School Management Boards.
Education stakeholders in the North Rift region have raised concerns about the management of schools and are calling for the restructuring of school management boards across the country.
Led by former Chesumei Member of Parliament Wilson Kogo, the stakeholders believe that reforming the boards will improve the day-to-day operations of educational institutions.
Kogo noted during an event in Kapsabet town that several schools had failed to achieve significant development despite receiving funds, attributing this shortfall to mismanagement issues.
The Need for Qualified Professionals on Boards
Kogo, who once served on the Parliamentary Education Committee, emphasized the importance of appointing qualified individuals to school management boards.
He argued that the inclusion of competent professionals would greatly enhance the effectiveness of these boards.
He expressed concern over the presence of unqualified members in board positions, which he said had negatively affected school administration.
As someone with a vested interest in education, Kogo suggested policy reforms to ensure that only qualified professionals are selected to serve on school boards.

The stakeholders also highlighted the detrimental impact of political interference on education, stating that it hampers efforts to improve academic standards across the country.
They cautioned against allowing politics to influence the management and governance of schools, as this could further impede educational progress.
