Elgeyo Marakwet Woman Representative Caroline Ng’elechei has unveiled a transformative scholarship initiative, The Second Chance, aimed at reintegrating high school dropouts into the education system.
The program seeks to provide students with a fresh opportunity to pursue their studies and achieve their aspirations.
The scholarship targets students across the county who left school due to financial constraints, early pregnancies, or other social challenges. It removes financial barriers by fully covering tuition fees, enabling seamless re-enrollment. Key eligibility requirements include:

Caroline Ng’elechei noted the overwhelming success of the inaugural edition of the program. A total of 312 beneficiaries, comprising 112 male and 200 female students, were identified from the county’s 20 wards.

Faith Jepkemboi, a 17-year-old beneficiary, shared her excitement about the scholarship, stating that it has reignited her dream of becoming a nurse. Similarly, 18-year-old Peter Kimutai, who had dropped out to support his family, expressed gratitude for the program, calling it a blessing.
