Enock Kambale: The KCSE A-Student Who Dropped Out of UoN to Found a Company at 19
Enock Kambale, a 20-year-old tech enthusiast, exemplifies the saying that luck is where opportunity meets preparedness. Despite challenges in his academic journey, Kambale’s passion for technology propelled him to notable achievements as a software developer.
Kambale began his academic rise with an impressive 436 marks in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), earning him the title of top student in the Coastal region.
This success secured him a spot at Mang’u High School, one of Kenya’s most prestigious institutions. At Mang’u, he achieved an A grade with 83 points in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
After his stellar high school performance, Kambale joined the University of Nairobi (UoN) to pursue a degree in Computer Science. However, his academic journey was cut short due to ideological differences with his lecturers.
He explained that he was accused of exceeding expectations on a class project, and another lecturer commented on his attitude. These experiences, coupled with his dissatisfaction with the academic system, led him to drop out during his second year.
Building a Tech Empire
Kambale’s entrepreneurial journey began at the age of 16 while he was still in high school. By the age of 19, he was instrumental in the development of Africa’s leading AI-powered job application platform, which has since helped over 20,000 young people secure employment.
His flagship product, the Talent App, streamlines job matching for users. Alongside his colleague, Matt Magera, Kambale also developed software named Jobzy. This tool assists recruiters in Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa by enabling them to conduct background checks using government records.

Kambale and Magera are collaborating with the United Nations’ International Labour Organization (ILO) on a humanitarian project for refugees in Kenya. This initiative, currently in the planning phase, aims to support refugees in the Dadaab and Kakuma camps under the ILO’s Pathways Program.
