Intern teachers have threatened to strike over unfair working conditions, demanding new contracts under permanent and pensionable terms from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

The conflict is currently under judicial review. Basic Education Principal Secretary urged schools and teachers to devise methods to recover lost time.
Schools have been advised to independently decide on strategies such as remedial lessons, and morning and evening classes for the recovery process.
A brewing crisis between school managers and the government stems from reports that no capitation money will be disbursed to schools upon reopening for the second term.
