Karega Mutahi, the former Education Principal Secretary, has passed away. The Chairperson of Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital,
Olive Mugenda, announced his death, describing him as both a valued friend and former superior.
Mugenda praised his pragmatic approach and dedication to accomplishing his assignments effectively, acknowledging his impact on October 27.
Mugenda highlighted Mutahi’s role in establishing the operational framework for Kenyatta University Hospital.

Near the hospital’s completion, Mutahi led the operationalization committee, and his efforts culminated in the influential “Karega Report,” which played a significant role in shaping the hospital’s functioning.

Mutahi is remembered for his supportive stance toward university vice chancellors, enhancing the performance and transformation within institutions like Kenyatta University.
Serving as Principal Secretary during President Mwai Kibaki’s administration, he was key in advancing reforms in the higher education sector.
