Former KNUT Boss Sossion Calls for Arrest of Scandal-Linked University Vice Chancellors.
Former KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion has emphasized that Vice Chancellors implicated in corruption scandals should face legal action, including imprisonment.
Speaking on Citizen TV, Sossion attributed the decline of Kenyan universities and reduced access to higher education for youth to the mismanagement and unethical practices of university leadership.
He criticized the dismissal of VCs as an inadequate measure, calling for the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and other prosecuting authorities to ensure these individuals are jailed for violating laws and contributing to the institutions’ collapse.
He remarked that corruption within university administrations has significantly undermined the education sector.
Recent Developments in the Higher Education Sector
Sossion’s remarks come in the wake of a prolonged university strike that concluded on November 23.
The Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) agreed to resume work after signing a return-to-work formula with the Inter-Public Universities Councils Consultative Forum (IPUCCF).
