Government Accelerates Teacher Recruitment for CBC Implementation.
Interior and National Administration Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equipping Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) with sufficient teachers to support the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
During a church service at Emmaus Catholic Church in Rongo town, Omollo outlined the administration’s progress, noting that 76,000 teachers have already been hired for JSS under President William Ruto’s leadership.
The government aims to recruit a total of 110,000 teachers, as projected by the President, to ensure the effective implementation of the new curriculum.
Omollo emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and education stakeholders to address the transition challenges for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) students.
He highlighted the need to ensure that students who missed university placements are admitted to technical institutions to acquire skills essential for driving the nation’s economy.
Advancing Universal Health Coverage
On health matters, Omollo urged Migori residents to enroll in the Taifa Care Programme, part of Kenya’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) initiative.
He noted that 17 million Kenyans are currently registered under the Social Health Authority (SHA) and encouraged more citizens to join the program to benefit from the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF).
Omollo stressed that no one should be excluded from the medical scheme due to failure to register.
Omollo also presided over the launch of a new police post in the Miruya area, located in Central Kanyamkago Ward, Uriri Sub County. He highlighted the collective responsibility of both the government and communities in ensuring security.
While the government is tasked with protecting citizens and their properties, Omollo urged communities to collaborate closely with security agencies to foster safety within their areas.

The new police station, according to Omollo, will enhance security, safeguard lives and property, and create an environment conducive to socio-economic growth in Migori County. He reiterated the government’s commitment to operationalizing all administration units within counties to improve security and service delivery.
Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko, who accompanied the PS, pledged to work with the national government to ensure efficient service delivery for Migori residents. Other leaders present included Migori Senator Eddy Oketch, Uriri Member of Parliament (MP) Mark Nyamita, and Mogotio MP Reuben Kiborek.
