Government to Construct 1,600 School Laboratories in Rural Areas – Ruto.

President William Ruto reaffirmed the government’s commitment to constructing laboratories in schools, particularly in informal settlements and rural areas, to ensure fairness for all students, especially those advancing to universities.

Speaking at State House Nairobi during the awarding of a charter to Riara University, he emphasized the administration’s dedication to funding education, allocating 29% of this year’s budget to the sector.

Ruto highlighted the government’s focus on policy development aimed at transforming universities into hubs for research, innovation, and academic excellence.

He noted that additional resources, in collaboration with development partners, have been allocated to build 1,600 laboratories in schools currently lacking these facilities.

The goal is to create an equal learning environment, ensuring that no student encounters a laboratory setup for the first time during an exam.

Massive Education Sector Investment

The president further announced that the government will invest 650 billion Kenyan Shillings in the education sector this year, constituting 29% of the national budget.

He stressed the importance of expanding the sector to accommodate the increasing number of students transitioning from secondary schools to higher education institutions.
