Government to Clamp Down on Predators Preying on Schoolgirls During Long Holiday.
The Kuresoi South Sub County Director of Education (SCDE) has issued a strong caution to men targeting schoolgirls, ensuring that those responsible will be prosecuted.
SCDE Doneth Atieno expressed concern over the increasing number of girls in the region who leave school after primary education due to early pregnancies.
She called upon parents to be vigilant during the December holiday, urging them to prevent such cases and ensure their daughters remain in school.
Atieno urged parents to take full responsibility for their daughters during the holiday period, closely monitoring their activities to prevent early pregnancies and marriages.

She emphasized that parents must be proactive in their children’s lives to ensure they continue their education without interruption.
She was overseeing Home Science practicals at Kapsimbeiywo Secondary School in Keringet Ward, ahead of the KCSE practical exams scheduled from October 28 to 30, when she made these remarks.
Condemnation of Parental Neglect
Atieno criticized parents who have shifted their guidance duties onto teachers, leaving their children vulnerable to societal dangers when out of school.
She warned that Kuresoi South will not tolerate becoming a leader in early pregnancies and marriages.
Some parents, she noted, have been marrying off their daughters, a practice the SCDE vowed to address in collaboration with other government agencies.
The school principal reported that students have been given ample assignments and expressed hope that parents would provide the necessary moral support to keep them focused on their studies.

Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Malak Namai, speaking at the same event, highlighted transportation difficulties for exam materials, citing vehicle shortages.
He pointed out that ongoing rains have rendered many roads in the constituency impassable, which could disrupt the efficient transport of exam materials.
Namai noted that 13 students across the constituency would sit for the upcoming practical exams.
