Government Warn Against Noisy Activities Near National Exam Centers.
Nandi East Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), Ngalia Ndaya, has urged residents to provide a conducive environment for students during the upcoming national examination period, set to begin next week.
He emphasized that offering students a quiet and supportive atmosphere is crucial for ensuring they perform well in their exams.
He outlined that several measures are essential for students to achieve excellent results, highlighting the roles of students, parents, teachers, and the community in supporting this critical period.
Warnings on Noise and Illicit Brews
During his address at the Mashujaa Day celebrations at Nandi Hills Stadium, Ndaya issued a warning to individuals who might disrupt the exam process through noise near exam centers, emphasizing that security agents will take action against such offenders.
He also called on residents involved in the production and sale of illegal brews to refrain from selling to students. Ndaya urged community members to report any such cases to the authorities for swift action.
The DCC noted that rehearsals for the exams had been completed and reminded residents that exam time is a pivotal moment in a student’s life.
He called on everyone to avoid any interruptions that could jeopardize the smooth running of the exams and wished all the candidates success.
“Examinations period is a critical moment in the life of a student. I want to call upon all residents to ensure they avoid activities that might interrupt the smooth running of examinations,” pointed DCC Ndaya.
Advice on Education and Technology
Ndaya cautioned against the sale of illicit brews, advising parents to ensure their children stay away from such activities as they could negatively impact student performance.
He emphasized that any individual involved in such business should not be tolerated.
Ndaya also encouraged parents to motivate their children to continue their education and progress to higher levels.
He pointed out that technological advancements require individuals to acquire more skills to remain competitive.
He expressed concern over students dropping out of school to engage in tea plucking, which is a major activity in Nandi East Sub-County. The introduction of tea plucking machines has resulted in job losses, further highlighting the need for education.
The DCC urged parents to stop lamenting about machines taking over jobs in the tea sector. Instead, he advised them to form groups to access government credits and invest in businesses that can generate income, thus supporting their children’s education.
Safe Circumcision Practices
Ndaya also touched on the upcoming holiday circumcision ceremonies, urging parents to ensure their boys are in safe hands.
He warned against exposing them to harmful traditional practices and alcohol, stressing that such behaviors can have long-term negative effects, including on their education.
