In a press release dated September 30, the National Treasury confirmed that the funds designated for JSS were disbursed the previous week on Friday.

Allocation of Funds

The released funds were divided into three portions:

  1. Ksh3.4 billion – Sent to the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NGCDF) Board as the Ministry of Education’s share.
  2. Ksh3.4 billion – Matching funding allocated to NGCDF.
  3. Ksh1 billion – Specifically allocated to Nairobi County.

The Ministry of Education, through NGCDF, received the largest portion due to its responsibility for constructing classrooms to support the growing JSS infrastructure.

Ensuring Infrastructure for JSS

The National Treasury reiterated that this funding aims to ensure that the necessary infrastructure is available for the effective functioning of Junior Secondary Schools.

The Ministry emphasized its continued support for JSS through capitation and other necessary resources.
