Headteachers Call for Urgent Teacher Recruitment and Learning Materials.

Headteachers have raised alarm over the growing strain in schools due to acute teacher shortages and a lack of essential learning materials. Elly Ondiek, the KEPSHA Nyanza Regional Chairperson, appreciated the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and the county government for their consistent backing of education efforts in the region. His recognition underscored the vital role both institutions continue to play in supporting education stakeholders.

Despite the support, Ondiek raised concerns over the persistent hurdles school leaders are facing. He highlighted shortages of teachers, poor infrastructure, and insecurity in certain areas as significant barriers to effective education delivery.

He urged the TSC and Ministry of Education to expedite teacher recruitment and ensure schools are equipped with adequate learning resources. Ondiek emphasized that while headteachers remained dedicated to their roles, they required enhanced support to achieve educational goals.

“We urge TSC and the Ministry of Education to fast-track teacher recruitment and provide sufficient learning materials. Headteachers are committed, but we need support to deliver,” said Ondiek.
