HELB Opens KASNEB Foundation Loan Applications for Accounting Students.

On Monday, the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) introduced the KASNEB Foundation Loan and Bursary Scheme, which is now accepting applications from students pursuing accounting courses. The scheme is designed to support tuition and examination fees with competitive interest rates and flexible repayment options.

Eligibility Criteria

The loan program is exclusively available to students undertaking KASNEB-accredited accounting courses. Eligible students must be enrolled in a recognized institution and can apply for assistance with exam registration, renewal, and exemption fees in addition to tuition fees.

The scheme covers the following six courses:

Course Name
Certified Public Accountants (CPA)
Certified Secretaries (CS)
Certified Investment and Financial Analysts (CIFA)
Certified Credit Professionals (CCP)
Accounting Technicians Diploma (ATD)
Certificate in Accounting and Management Skills (CAMS)

The loan carries an interest rate of 6% per annum and must be repaid starting three years after the completion of studies.

The maximum repayment period is 60 months. Additionally, a non-refundable administrative fee of Kshs. 500 will be charged during disbursement.

Application Process

To apply for the KASNEB Foundation Loan, students should follow these steps:

  1. Registration and Account Activation
    • Visit the HELB website at www.helb.co.ke.
    • Access the HELB Students’ Portal to register, create, and activate an account using a personal mobile number.
  2. Loan Application
    • Log in to the account and navigate to the “Loan Application” tab on the left dashboard.
    • Choose between the following options:
      • KASNEB Foundation Loan and Bursary Application – Tuition Fees Only
      • KASNEB Foundation Loan and Bursary Application – KASNEB Fees Only
  3. Consent Agreement
    • Agree to the consent for the collection and processing of personal data.
  4. Form Completion
    • Access and fill out the loan application form online.
