This change led to increased searches, even as media outlets published guides on the process.

2. How to Update the Token Meter

Kenyans also searched for ways to update their electricity token meters. This search peaked after Kenya Power’s announcement requiring prepaid users to update their meters by August 31, 2024.

  • Kenya Power Managing Director, Joseph Siror, explained that the update aimed to transition customers to a new system due to the expiration of the current one.

  • The KUCCPS portal opened on February 8, facilitating student placement in institutions such as universities, Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs), Technical Training Institutions (TVETs), and the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).

5. How to Register for SHIF

With the launch of the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) on October 1, replacing the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), Kenyans sought guidance on how to register.
