Additionally, nutrition and dietetics programs at Meru University (degree level) and Edinburgh College (certificate and diploma levels) were discontinued. Jordan Hospital Medical College and the Kenya Institute of Social Work and Development were also barred from offering certificate and diploma courses in the field.
KNDI attributed the suspensions to non-compliance with training standards outlined in Section 6(d) of the Cap 253B mandate.
The institute emphasized that the move aligns with its objective of upholding the quality of education and ensuring that nutrition and dietetics programs meet the benchmarks necessary for professional practice.
Accredited Institutions Approved to Offer Courses
Despite the suspensions, KNDI announced that 73 institutions are approved to offer nutrition and dietetics courses.
Approved universities include Maseno University, the University of Nairobi (UoN), Kisii University, Kenyatta University, and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST).
