JSS National Ball Games Venue Changed from Kisii to Kakamega
Dr. Belio Kipsang, Principal Secretary for Basic Education, announced a venue change for the Junior Secondary School (JSS) Term Two Ball Games, moving the event from Kisii to Kakamega.
The games, originally set to take place in Kisii County, will now be held in Kakamega from July 30 to August 7, 2024, to ensure better logistical coordination.
In a memo dated June 18, 2024, addressed to all regional and County Directors of Education (CDE), Dr. Kipsang explained that the JSS national championship will coincide with the primary school Term Two ball games in Kakamega.
This decision was made for more efficient management and coordination of the events.
Dr. Kipsang noted that the 2024 national co-curricular activities calendar initially planned for JSS competitions to be held separately from primary school events at a different venue.

However, he directed that this year’s Term Two JSS national championship ball games be relocated to Kakamega, where the primary school games will be hosted during the same period.
The Kenya Primary Schools Sports Association (KPSSA) currently oversees JSS co-curricular activities on an interim basis until a final decision is made through the curriculum transition.
