Kairi Boys High School 4th Annual Mathematics Contest: Invitation

Kairi Boys High School is gearing up to host its 4th Annual Mathematics Contest, inviting schools from across the region to participate in a day dedicated to celebrating mathematical prowess and academic achievement.

Scheduled for Saturday, June 15th, 2024, starting at 7:30 AM, the event aims to encourage students to excel in mathematics through practical application and friendly competition.

The contest, organized by the Mathematics Department under the theme “Elimu ni Ngao” (Education is a Shield), seeks to build on the success of previous years, where participating schools have witnessed significant improvements in their students’ mathematical abilities.

Notably, Kairi Boys High School achieved a remarkable 1.5 grade deviation improvement in the 2023 KCSE results, attributing part of this success to the motivation and skills sharpened during past contests.

“We are excited to welcome schools to our campus for this year’s mathematics contest,” remarked Mrs. Elizabeth Ngugi, Head of the Mathematics Department at Kairi Boys High School.

Activities planned for the day include a written contest lasting 1 hour, a quick-fire mathematics competition also spanning 1 hour, and a 30-minute oral test.

Additionally, each participating school is expected to prepare a creative presentation item, such as a song, spoken word piece, skit, or choral verse, celebrating the beauty and importance of mathematics in our daily lives.

To ensure smooth operations and facilitate awards for outstanding performances, each school is required to contribute a facilitation fee of Ksh2500 per team.

This contribution will go towards prizes, certificates, and trophies for top-performing students and teams. It is also advised that schools provide packed lunches for their students attending the event.
