Kakamega DG Expresses Concern Over TSC’s Promotion of Deceased Teachers
Kakamega deputy governor Ayub Savula has criticized the TSC for elevating deceased teachers at the expense of surviving colleagues.
Ayub Savula, Kakamega Deputy Governor (DG), has expressed concern that the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) included the names of teachers who died five years ago on the list of those recently promoted.
According to Savula, TSC’s incompetence must end because there are still teachers who need the positions left vacant by their deceased colleagues.
The DG told teachers in Musoli, Ikolomani Sub-county, that these situations have become too frequent to ignore.
“Recently, two cases of failed teacher promotions were brought up, but TSC had included teachers who died a long time ago. As leaders, we will support teachers, and the deserving cases must be promoted,” Savula said.

The DG’s remarks follow allegations from teachers and unions that the promotion interviews were riddled with discrepancies and outright unfairness.
Both KNUT and KUPPET conducted their investigations into the complaints after the release of the list of promoted teachers, in which they claimed that some teachers had received posthumous promotions.

KNUT then conducted a thorough audit of the promotions, asking all of its branches to compile lists with detailed information in their regions of jurisdiction, including the names of promoted teachers and their new designations.
The union has yet to compile and disclose the list for public use.
